Teens need a space that feels like theirs. A place to be real, explore who they are, and build the skills they need for what's next. I support teens (ages 10+) through the ups, downs, and in-betweens of adolescents.

Frequently
Asked Questions.
Still have questions? Here are some of the most common ones I hear.
Q: What are your session fees? Individual therapy rates are $200 per session (50 minutes). Couples therapy rates are $250 per session (50 minutes). Family therapy rates start at $250 per session for 2 people (50 minutes). Each additional person is an additional $50. (e.g. 4 people = $350)
Q: Is what we talk about confidential? Yes. What you share with me is private and confidential, and I take that responsibility seriously. I won't share information about you or your therapy with others without your consent, except in specific circumstances where I am legally or ethically required to disclose information—for example, when there is a serious and immediate safety concern, concerns about the safety of a child or vulnerable person, or a legal requirement such as a court order. At the beginning of therapy, we'll talk about confidentiality and its limits so you know what to expect. My goal is for you to have a space where you can be honest, open and comfortable being yourself.
Q: How does family or couples counselling work? For couples, I begin by meeting with each partner individually before bringing you together for joint sessions. This gives each person an opportunity to share their perspective, history and concerns in a private setting and allows me to better understand the relationship from both sides. It also helps create a more balanced and comfortable starting point for our work together. From there, we'll meet as a couple to identify patterns, improve communication, work through conflict and focus on the changes you're hoping to make. Family counselling can look a little different depending on your family's needs. We may meet together, individually, or in different combinations throughout the process. The goal isn't to find someone to blame—it's to understand what's happening within the family and work toward healthier ways of communicating and connecting.
Q: Can you see my teen without my involvement? In most situations, a parent or legal guardian needs to provide consent for a minor to begin counselling. However, Alberta recognizes that some minors may be capable of providing their own informed consent when they understand the nature, benefits, risks and consequences of the treatment—these individuals may be considered mature minors. Once counselling begins, I believe teens deserve a private space where they can speak honestly and develop trust in the therapeutic relationship. I will respect their confidentiality within the legal and ethical limits of my role. This means I don't automatically share everything discussed in sessions with parents. At the same time, I encourage healthy communication between teens and their parents and will work with the teen to determine what information can appropriately be shared. If there is a significant safety concern or another legal or ethical obligation to disclose information, confidentiality may need to be broken.
Q: What if we're not sure what we need? That's completely okay. You don't need to figure out whether you need individual therapy, couples counselling, family therapy or something else before reaching out. Sometimes you just know that something isn't working and you want some help figuring out what comes next. That's what the 15-minute complimentary consultation is for. We can talk about what's bringing you in, what you're hoping will be different and whether I might be the right person to help. You don't have to know exactly what you need. You just have to start somewhere.
Q: Do you offer virtual sessions? Yes. I do both in-person and virtual sessions.
Q: Do you direct bill to insurance companies? Yes. I direct bill to many benefit companies. There are a few that do not allow direct billing such as Alberta Blue Cross. However you will be given a receipt you can submit in order to be reimbursed. Also, make sure to check with your provider to make sure they cover counsellors. In Alberta some benefits companies will only cover Psychologists or Social Workers. You want to make sure your benefits cover Counsellors, Psychotherapists, or Clinical Counsellors to have our sessions covered. Some providers also have a session maximum and may not cover the entire fee for the session.
